DR. ANTARES RAMOS-ALVAREZ
Director
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, she’s a true island woman. A social entrepreneur and environmental conservation strategist with over 19 years of experience in Puerto Rico, Hawaii, USVI, England, Spain, Panamá and México. She has dedicated her career to coral reefs and coastal resource conservation and management. Antares is currently focused on giving the ocean a voice, designing experiential opportunities to lose the fear Caribbean islanders in general have towards the ocean, and in enhancing coral reef restoration efforts in the municipalities of Carolina and San Juan. In 2021, she was appointed by the Vatican as a member of Pope Francis’s Laudato Sì Action Platform’s Economy Working Group.
She has a BA in Psychology (Yale University), an MSc in Geography (University of Oxford) and a DPhil in Zoology (University of Oxford).
Her passions are traveling, SCUBA diving and sailing…anything related to exploring and the ocean!
